This is the question I sent to igxglobal

“I have a quick question and I hope you can get back to me, my mom works for your company by the way! I always wondered, because your an office manager, how does your job relate to making firewalls? Thank you. Willy Wonka”

When he responded he wrote,

“As office managerI basically run the office.  I am responsible to pay all the bills.  I collect the money from our clients.  I oversee the process of receiving purchase orders and statements of work from clients, making sure our technical services division provides the services listed on the statements of work, making sure all products are ordered from our vendors and then making sure clients are invoiced.  There are also many internal processes I oversee to make sure our clients are satisfied, we represent our vendor partners properly and our employees are happy.  As office manager, you wear many hats.

Let me explain a little about our company.  We are integrators of technology.  This means we can go into a company, assess its computer network and determine if it is secure.  We are familiar with various types of security products so we can build your network to prevent anyone from hacking in and stealing data.  We are also one of about 55 companies in the US that is authorized by Visa and Mastercard to perform a PCI audit.  This audit will tell a company that accepts Visa or Mastercard if their network is safe.  I’m sure you have heard stories about peoples identity being stolen!!  The products we sell and the services we provide can prevent someone from stealing data even if they lose their laptop!!!”

The reason I picked this company was because I was always interested i computers and I wanted to learn more, and maybe because my mom works there. I chose the question to relate to this man’s job. His response was not what I expected. I expected my job is only for the checks for the other emplyees or I only control the money. His job includes so much more andI am happy that I did this post. It made me realize that some jobs can’t be what they seem. You can be called a business leader and you do so much more than run your own business. I hope to do more research on both the business leaders and mom’s company.

Volcanoes

Posted on October 25th, 2007 in Weekly Entry by willywonka

I never knew that volcanoes can be so fascinating. I read a blog about volcanoes and I was drawn in by the facts. The person who wrote this blog did a great job explaining everything. I say this because he/she talked like a professional scientist. I could understand somethings, but not all. Other blogs that I considered was a blog about dogs. I truley love dogs and I always wanted to learn as much as I can about them. I wrote this at my grandparents house and I asked my grandfather said, “Why don’t you write about volcanoes?” So, I did. I learned that volcanoes are more follwed and studied than I thought. They have webcams and maps and reports on them just to make sure that they don’t explode. I now realize that what they do is very smart because if a volcanoe explodes and people live close to the volcanoe, they can easily die. Howver if the scientists or people who watch the volcanoes, can warn everybody to evacuate to be safe. I wish that the author could have made this a little more understandable to younger kids and make it a little more exciting, but the facts were great. This is a post from the blog,

We’ve been following the volcanic activity for several months now, fascinated with the option to watch the volcano in action as well as to read and learn about what is going on around it. The web cams are fascinating, as are the historical videos of activity on the volcano. The live web cams can be frustrating though, as the nights are long in Alaska right now, so catching the volcano during the few hours of daylight makes it challenging.

This helps me state my point because the author even says that they were facinated by the facts of volcanoes and what they found put about the volcanoes with their webcams. My comment was,

When reading this blog I thought how facinating volcanoes actually were. I never knew that they had webcams watching over volcanoes. Because of this post, I am now more interested with volcanoes! Great Job!
