If this man was still alive, he would be 716 years old! He was born in Paris and was a french poet and composer. Do you know who I am talking about? His name is Philippe de Vitry and he was famous for his beautiful poetry and motets. Even though he wrote many poems, he wrote much more motets. He also established a new form of mensural notation. His birthday is on October 31 which is the day I wrote this post. Biographic stories of his life are sketchy. He is referred to as “Magister” in his biographies and went to the University of Paris. Vitry has been most famous in music history for writing the Ars Nova (1322), a treatise on music, which gave its name to the music of the entire era. Vitry did so much in the 70 years he lived, however, unfortunately, he died on June 9, 1361. He will always be remembered by his work.
This is the question I sent to igxglobal…
“I have a quick question and I hope you can get back to me, my mom works for your company by the way! I always wondered, because your an office manager, how does your job relate to making firewalls? Thank you. Willy Wonka”
When he responded he wrote,
“As office managerI basically run the office. I am responsible to pay all the bills. I collect the money from our clients. I oversee the process of receiving purchase orders and statements of work from clients, making sure our technical services division provides the services listed on the statements of work, making sure all products are ordered from our vendors and then making sure clients are invoiced. There are also many internal processes I oversee to make sure our clients are satisfied, we represent our vendor partners properly and our employees are happy. As office manager, you wear many hats.
Let me explain a little about our company. We are integrators of technology. This means we can go into a company, assess its computer network and determine if it is secure. We are familiar with various types of security products so we can build your network to prevent anyone from hacking in and stealing data. We are also one of about 55 companies in the US that is authorized by Visa and Mastercard to perform a PCI audit. This audit will tell a company that accepts Visa or Mastercard if their network is safe. I’m sure you have heard stories about peoples identity being stolen!! The products we sell and the services we provide can prevent someone from stealing data even if they lose their laptop!!!”
The reason I picked this company was because I was always interested i computers and I wanted to learn more, and maybe because my mom works there. I chose the question to relate to this man’s job. His response was not what I expected. I expected my job is only for the checks for the other emplyees or I only control the money. His job includes so much more andI am happy that I did this post. It made me realize that some jobs can’t be what they seem. You can be called a business leader and you do so much more than run your own business. I hope to do more research on both the business leaders and mom’s company.

I never knew that volcanoes can be so fascinating. I read a blog about volcanoes and I was drawn in by the facts. The person who wrote this blog did a great job explaining everything. I say this because he/she talked like a professional scientist. I could understand somethings, but not all. Other blogs that I considered was a blog about dogs. I truley love dogs and I always wanted to learn as much as I can about them. I wrote this at my grandparents house and I asked my grandfather said, “Why don’t you write about volcanoes?” So, I did. I learned that volcanoes are more follwed and studied than I thought. They have webcams and maps and reports on them just to make sure that they don’t explode. I now realize that what they do is very smart because if a volcanoe explodes and people live close to the volcanoe, they can easily die. Howver if the scientists or people who watch the volcanoes, can warn everybody to evacuate to be safe. I wish that the author could have made this a little more understandable to younger kids and make it a little more exciting, but the facts were great. This is a post from the blog,
We’ve been following the volcanic activity for several months now, fascinated with the option to watch the volcano in action as well as to read and learn about what is going on around it. The web cams are fascinating, as are the historical videos of activity on the volcano. The live web cams can be frustrating though, as the nights are long in Alaska right now, so catching the volcano during the few hours of daylight makes it challenging.
This helps me state my point because the author even says that they were facinated by the facts of volcanoes and what they found put about the volcanoes with their webcams. My comment was,
When reading this blog I thought how facinating volcanoes actually were. I never knew that they had webcams watching over volcanoes. Because of this post, I am now more interested with volcanoes! Great Job!
I want your HONEST opinion…
I always say… Even if your at the top, live at the bottom. This means if you have it all in money, clothes, or even looks… act like you don’t know it… don’t flaunt it. Remember this is my opinion. For example, there is this kid and he/she has it all. Looks (some people would say, not me), wealth, clothes, skills, personality, everything and he/she flaunts it like no tomorrow. This annoys me sooooooo much because this makes people who are totally the opposite feel horrible about themselves. But I resently found out that this person is a pretty mean kid and because he/she dislikes somebody, he/she doesn’t even bother to recognize this person and is pretty rude. Would you agree with my saying. Do you think I am right or is he/she right? Tell me your opinion!
When I first heard what we had to do with the blog action day, I was pretty happy. I love learning about the invironment and I did more research than I had to with this. Our environment is beautiful. I would love to walk outside to a bright blue river with birds singing, the sun shinning, only some white cluds in the sky, and the bright green grass glittering like after a light rain. Unfortunately, I have never seen that.=( My opinion is that cars have polluted our air with the gas fumes. People have also destroyed our air by smoking. Smoke is in the air everywhere I go and I think people who are smart and don’t smoke shouldn’t have to ruin their own health, but that is getting off topic. I am talking about the environment! Anyway, people can tell a lot of things by the way it looks. You can’t say the saying don’t judge a book by it’s cover with an environment, because it can’t tell you otherwise. You can see what the people think of their environment. My environment is great. It’s clean, safe, and everyone is friendly. Anyones environment can be perfect, but only the people living there can make it that way. I always say don’t be afraid to make a difference.
I do NOT know anything about rugby! I know it sounds weird and I have heard this sport a lot of times, but I never knew how to play or the rules. I learned that inrugby, there are 15 players on each team and they play on a field called a pitch which is 100m long and 69m wide. The ball makes it down the field by carrying and kicking the ball. When someone from the other team tackles the person carrying the ball, they have to places the ball on the ground and is fought over by each team, this is called a ruck. A ruck is where two or more players come together, and they grab their heads and arms and try to push the opposing team over the ball, so that their team can gain possession of the ball. When a scrum happens, a small infringement or stoppage of the game happens, restarting of play is done. Now, eight players on each side bind together in three rows. The first rows on each side lock heads and then the scrum half throws the ball into the tunnel (the space between each sideA’s scrum). If there is a severe infringement, then a penalty is awarded. Once the ball has made it to one end of the field, the team can scare a Tri. When you need to score a Tri, the ball must be touched to the ground in the Tri zone. After a Tri has been awarded, you can gain more points by a conversion kick. A Tri is worth five points, and a conversion is worth two points. At this website you can find all the information that I found. I am so glad we did this post so I can learn something new. I would have never done this on my own time.

I listened to a very informational podcast. It was called Sharks of Palau and it was a podcast from Animal Planet. It may sound boring, however to me,I was listening so closely to what the narrator had to say for his voice was deep and mysterious and it fit perfectly with the theme. I learned that sharks are not always dangerous creatures and if you are friendly enough they can actually be very friendly and playful. I also learned something that made me dislike sharks a little bit. If a sharks get a hold of you, it can only take one little bit on a nerve and you can be dead. On the other hand, people who study sharks aren’t surprised with all the stories they hear about shark attacks. I learned that if a shark smells the smallest amount of blood, it knows exactly the way to go to find dinner for the night. The podcasts I considered were any podcast about animals. I love animals and I could listen to stories about them all day long. I think it is fascinating how their lives are so much alike and so much different than ours. I stumbled across this podcast on iTunes. In the search tab, I typed in animals and I saw something about sharks. I am totally afraid of sharks and I thought learning about them would be fun. I listened to the 25 minute long podcast on iTunes. My thoughts were, wow, I never would have known a educational podcast would be so exciting and I was at the edge of my seat listening to it! I was waiting for something scary to happen because of the man’s tone of voice and the music playing in the back. This is the comment I left: ” I thought this podcast was exciting and educational. I enjoyed listening to what the divers had to say. Keep these podcasts coming because I will sit at my computer all day and listen to them. I learned so many things such as sharks aren’t always harmful and could be very playful.” If you want to listen to the podcast here’s a link, but it isn’t to iTunes: http://kids.learnoutloud.com/Kids-Catalog/Science/Biology/Animal-Planet-Presents-Podcast/23091#plink

I’m sorry if any of you have heard this story already, but I read it in the news paper this morning.
A grandmother was left at home with her grandson while the 2 year old’s mother went to work. By the way the grandson and the 2 year old are the same people. Anyway, the grandmother had to give the little boy a bath and put him to bed and so she filled the bath tub up a little bit and put him in. She walked out of the room and when she came back her grandson was dead in the bath tub. She ran around the house crying and called her daughter and told her that her son had died and that she killed him. Did i forget to tell you that this is a really sad story?? =( So she called the police and said that she killed her grandson and needed to go to jail. Is it just me or is that really silly? So, the next day, the grandmother had to go to court to do all the trial thing stuff. When her daughter went into the bathroom to see if her mother was in there, she found her hanging from the ceiling. The grandmother committed suicide because she felt so guilty about killing her grandson. Now, I want your opinion, I think the grandmother did a very silly thing by committing suicide. What do you think? Do you think the death was the grandmother’s fault? Comment and see what other people think! =)
